The Mining Equipment Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for mining equipment operators and technicians. This role ensures personnel are competent in operating and maintaining a range of heavy equipment per OEM standards, safety protocols, and site-specific procedures. The trainer must be experienced with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, or similar equipment, and certified to instruct both theoretical and practical modules.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Indicators

1.  Training Program Development & Delivery

Design and deliver equipment training (theory and hands-on) for operators and maintenance staff aligned with OEM specs and safety standards.

2. Pre-Employment Testing

Conduct theoretical and practical assessments for operator candidates before employment to ensure baseline competency and suitability.

3.  Operation, Safety Training & Certification

Provide instruction on safe equipment operation, hazard awareness, and emergency procedures, coupled with assessments to certify operator competency and recommend retraining if necessary.

4.  Continuous Improvement, Coaching & Mentoring

Regularly update training materials to incorporate new technologies and best practices, while providing field coaching and on-the-job mentoring to reinforce skills and improve operator behavior.

5.  Compliance & Documentation

Ensure all training complies with regulations, OEM, and internal policies; maintain accurate training and certification records.

6.  Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to identify training needs, close skill gaps, and support production objectives.
